The world's largest economies adopted Artificial Intelligence as a major strategy to enhance national competitiveness and maintain national security. Since 2013, more than 20 countries and regions, including the United States, China, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, and France, launched AI-related plans and policies, including topics such as AI-driven infrastructure and talent cultivation.
To encourage youth to learn AI and promote the development of AI education, researchers and scientists from RMDS Lab, Harvard University, Columbia University, California Institute of Technology, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), China Data Institute, IBM, Facebook, and other well-known institutes jointly initiated the International Youth Test (IYT) project. The IYT project is positioned as an independent, third-party evaluation platform.
Its well-designed, standardized tests help youth to identify their current capabilities and provide guidance for future learning pathways. IYT project is run by Global Association for Research Methods and Data Science (GRMDS). It is a unique opportunity for teenagers around the world, and it was adapted from Youth Hackathon. The project was incorporated into GRMDS’ global certification system, which has been widely accepted throughout the United States. GRMDS’certification system is acknowledged by well-known institutes, such as California Institute of Technology, University of California, Riverside, Loyola Marymount University, University of Southern California, Packt publishing company, and Taylor&Francis Group.
IYT is implemented in accordance with the CSTA CS K-12 and NGSS international
general standards, and it is recognized by 145 countries and regions from around the world.
The content of the tests includes software programming (IYT-P) and robotics (IYT-R).
The software programming test (IYT-P) examines students’ command of programming languages,
such as Scratch, Python, and C++, and it focuses on the examination of students' logical thinking ability.
The robotics test(IYT-R) integrates knowledge relevant to mechanics, electronic engineering, programming,
and network protocols, that may cultivate students’ hands-on experience and scientific competencies.
Based on the IYT project, GRMDS will organize international conferences, instructor training, competitions, and other related activities to further accelerate the development of Artificial Intelligence education and AI industry experience. For more info on IYT China, please click
